Characters: Kuchiki Byakuya and Abarai Renji
Location: In the offices of Kuchiki Byakuya and Abarai Renji
Date: (when is this taking place?) Friday afternoon
Rating:PG
Summary: A short conversation between Renji and Byakuya.
"Abarai-kun, going out for lunch already?" Kuchiki asked his secretary, his eyes shifting its gaze to Renji's desk, cluttered with files, stationery and paperwork.
"But its like twelve noon already Kuchiki-sama! Even if you don't believe me, I'm sure you believe your ears right? The clock just struck twelve," Renji retorted, a little pissed that he had almost succeeded in sneaking out. It was either he was getting bad at sneaking or Kuchiki-sama's reaction rate was deteriorating. Because Renji noticed it had been half a minute since the office clock announced with loud ringing, that the time was twelve o'clock before Kuchiki-sama had raised his head to stare at it.
"And?" Byakuya mainly questioned, facing Renji waiting for a good reason from his lazy assistant.
"What do you mean AND? Like, everyone is leaving! And she's waiting in the coffee house!" Renji panicked.
The last time when it was his turn to treat her and he had arrived several minutes late, he had found himself waking up on the streets near the office buildings with his hair dyed rainbow.
"Oh. But are you not forgetting something Renji?"
"What?! Hurry, please?"
"Your desk. Those are really important materials," Byakuya replied, now glaring at Renji with eyes that were easily recognized as saying 'Stupid, that was obvious as hell'. As Renji scurried to clear his table and file all the lose sheets of paper, Byakuya continued.
"I must ask, who is this she you are meeting? Be honest, I'm sure you know the building is full of gossipers and any kind of new involving you travel really fast."
Renji was dumbfounded. He was not going to admit he had arranged to buy Rukia lunch. It was only a friends thing, or so they believed, but even a friends thing, as long as it included Rukia with only one other guy, he knew Byakuya would frown and serious consequences awaited him. To anyone else, seeing Byakuya frown seemed normal. But Renji knew better. The stoic board member always kept an expressionless face, even when he was pissed. So if he frowned, hell would flood the offices.
"Oh its Inoue-san and some of her friends! Haha and I'm treating them so I need to hurry!" Renji quickly responded, making a note to "accidentally" running into Inoue and drag her along for lunch.
